Most every Tuesday mornings at the Mill Road Community centre from 10 to 12 am there is a coffee morning hosted by PACT.
A nice place to drop in and have a chat and a buscuit.

There is always a nice selection home made cake.

This morning we will mostly be eating Date and Banana Bread made by Diana.

And here is the recipie.

125g/4oz flour
150g/5oz caster sugar
2 large eggs
3 bananas
125g/4oz dates, coarsely chopped
250/8oz self-raising flour, sifted
half a tespoon of salt

1. Line a 23cm/9inch loaf tin with greasproof paper. Brush with melted butter and set aside.

2. Pre-heat the oven to 180c (160c fan oven)/350f.

3. Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in the eggs.

4. Peel and mash the bananas with a fork and add them to the mixture, together with the dates.

5. Fold in the flour and salt.

6. Spoon the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and bake for one hour.

7. When the cake is cooked, turn it out on a wire rack and allow to cool.

Then make tea and eat cake.
